Islamic Emirate Welcomes Joint China-Russia Stance on Afghanistan

Following a joint statement by the presidents of China and Russia regarding Afghanistan, the caretaker government said the efforts of Beijing and Moscow to address Afghanistan’s issues as beneficial for the region.

Hamudullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, said that the caretaker government supports friendly relations with all countries of the world, including China and Russia.

He stated: “We consider these efforts important in the areas of economy, regional connectivity, and stability. Given the good relations with both countries, we support constructive progress in this regard.”

Yesterday, during his visit to Moscow, the President of China, along with his Russian counterpart, emphasized that both nations seek a stable Afghanistan—free from terrorism and at peace with its neighbors.

Vladimir Putin also stressed the vital role of regional summits and countries in resolving Afghanistan’s issues, stating that China and Russia share common positions on the matter.

Gul Mohammad Din Mohammadi, a political analyst, said: “Russia’s relations with Afghanistan—especially with the Islamic Emirate—are based on necessity, as they do not want the United States to regain influence in the region. Therefore, they act as if they are supporting the Islamic Emirate.”

Over the past three years, the caretaker government has maintained close ties with China. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions are also underway between Afghanistan and Russia for the appointment of a diplomat at the ambassadorial level in Moscow.
