Russia's special envoy for Afghanistan stated that the Islamic Emirate has appointed its ambassador to Moscow. Zamir Kabulov, Russia's special representative for Afghanistan, said that the Islamic Emirate has nominated a diplomat to serve as ambassador of the interim government in Moscow.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the 16th Kazan Forum, Kabulov said that Moscow is currently in the process of reviewing the nominee proposed by the interim government for the Afghan embassy.
Kabulov said: "This nominee is currently undergoing the necessary approval procedures within Russian institutions. I hope that once the process is complete, an agreement will be signed."
Kabulov also emphasized that Moscow has no plans to seize Bagram Airbase. Responding to Donald Trump's repeated remarks, he said that the United States has lost control of the base.
Russia’s envoy stated: “Never, not now or at any other time, has such a plan existed. To control a base, you must first possess it; the Americans have already lost it.”
Commenting on the issue, political analyst Wahid Faqiri said: "We Afghans must distinguish between serious statements and empty rhetoric. The Russians, as we know, have no plans to take over Bagram. Donald Trump only wants to portray himself as a strong leader and blame Biden."
In recent months, relations between Russia and the Islamic Emirate have expanded. Previously, Russia’s foreign minister also stressed that Russia and other regional countries, with a unified stance, oppose the presence of US military forces in Afghanistan.
