A number of residents in Warsaj district of Takhar province expressed concern over the lack of healthcare centers and the poor condition of roads in the district.
They have called on the officials in the caretaker government to address their problems.
Gada Mohammad, a resident of Warsaj district, said: "One of our problems is that our roads are in poor condition, and secondly, we are far from a clinic. Sometimes, we are forced to transfer patients to Taloqan. The cost of transportation and treatment in other areas is very high, and poor people cannot afford it."
Abdullah, another resident of Warsaj, added: "People in the region, including visitors coming for recreation, face serious challenges. In the area where we live, we are 25 kilometers away from the nearest clinic. Our patients, especially pregnant women, suffer greatly due to this."
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the governor of Takhar stated that the local government is working to address the challenges faced by residents of remote districts in the province.
Mohammad Arif Arif, the spokesperson for the Takhar governor, told TOLOnews: "Twelve kilometers of road have been graveled through coordination between local residents and the government. Regarding health issues, I must say that based on a decree from the Amir al-Mu’minin, a hospital has been approved for this district. Preliminary work has been done, land has been allocated, and construction will begin soon."
Warsaj, with an area of 2,935 square kilometers and a population of nearly 50,000, is one of Takhar’s districts. It features tourist attractions and draws both domestic and international tourists throughout the year, especially during the spring and summer seasons.
