11 Taliban Fighters Killed In Uruzgan Airstrike

At least 11 Taliban fighters have been killed in a clash followed by an air strike between security forces and the insurgent group in Uruzgan on Friday night.

In addition three security force members were killed and four others wounded.

Uruzgan police chief Mohammad Maroof Ahmad Zai said the clash broke out at midnight on Friday night when about a dozen Taliban stormed parts of the Chanato district.

Ahmad Zai said security forces pulled back after clashing with the Taliban when air support arrived.

He said foreign forces carried out an airstrike on the insurgents – which resulted in a high casualty toll.

The surviving Taliban then fled the area, he said.
