At least 121 Afghan civilians were killed and 336 more were wounded in Taliban attacks in 29 provinces over the past two weeks, the Afghan Ministry of Interior said on Thursday.

The majority of the casualties occurred in Kandahar, Baghlan, Nangarhar and Logar provinces, according to the Ministry of Interior.

“The Taliban as part of their continued crimes have martyred 121 civilians and wounded another 336 people. The Taliban act in defiance of their commitments against the people of Afghanistan,” said Tariq Aryan, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.

But the Taliban has rejected the government’s figures about the civilian casualties.

In the latest incident of violence, at least four people were killed and two more wounded after a car bomb exploded near Farah city police headquarters on Wednesday.

“28 civilians who were in the city to find a job were wounded,” said Dadullah Qani, member of Farah's provincial council.

Also in Kabul, two employees of the Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) were gunned down in a Taliban ambush in Kalakan district of Kabul on Wednesday night.

“The situation in Badghis has become the worst, if attention is not paid to Badghis, the situation will become more fragile,” said Ziauddin Akazi,

There are reports of clashes between the Afghan forces and the Taliban in Baghlan, Faryab, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul and Balkh provinces.

“War rages on in Faryab and Jawzjan districts,” said Gul Mohammad Rasouli, a senator.

Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Logar and Ghazni provinces also faced widespread battles over the past two weeks.

“We witnessed fierce fighting in the vulnerable regions of Ghazni and still we see violence,” said Naseer Faqiri, a member of Ghazni's provincial council.
