At least 16 Daesh fighters were killed and five other suspects were arrested during Afghan forces’ operations in Nangarhar province, the Ministry of Defense said Saturday.
The operations were conducted in the Deh Bala, Achin, Nazian and Chaparhar districts of Nangarhar province, MoD added.
According to the ministry the Afghan forces conducted 12 offensive operations in the past 24 hours in different parts of the country.
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kunar, Kapisa, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Urozgan, Ghor, Faryab, Balkh, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
The ministry also said that during the operations several villages had been cleared of insurgents and 14 targeted air strikes were conducted across the country.
No details were given regarding security forces or civilian casualties.
