'17 Taliban Killed' in Parwan Attack: Official

At least 17 Taliban were killed in attack on security checkpoints in Parwan province on Monday night, local officials said.

The Taliban attacked security checkpoints in Koh-e-Safi district around 11 pm and the fighting lasted until the early hours on Tuesday, said Haroon Mobariz, the provincial police chief.

“More than 200 Taliban attacked public uprising forces checkpoints in the district and 17 Taliban were killed and no security forces members were hurt in the attack,” Mubariz said.

“The situation is under the control of the security forces and the Taliban fled from the area,” he said.

However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
