Taliban local commander on Friday sucummbed to his injuries he sustained in a security forces operation in Badakhshan province, the north-eastern police zone said in a statement on Saturday.
The statement said Abdul Ahmad known as Abdul Ahmad Zagh, a local commander of the Taliban and founder of Taliban's front in Badakhshan, was wounded some days ago in a security forces operation in Jurm district.
Meanwhile, 27 Taliban insurgents were killed in a military operation conducted by Afghan security forces in Helmand province, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Saturday.
The operation was carried out in Nad Ali and Garmsir districts in Helmand where Taliban commanders, Ibrahim and Arab, were among those killed in the crackdown, the ministry said.
Nine other Taliban members were wounded in the operation, the statement added.
No report on probable casualties of security forces was provided.
