At least three Taliban were killed during clashes with security forces in the northern province of Baghlan province on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Thursday.
The Taliban had blocked travel for residents in the Cheshmaye Shir area of Baghlan, but the way was reopened by security forces during the operation, it said.
“The Taliban attacked the security forces in Cheshmaye Shir area in the past several days and the forces have launched a military operation to remove the threats,” according to the MoD.
“Three Taliban were killed during the operation in clashes with security forces and 15 roadside mines were also disarmed and the way was reopened,” it added.
The Taliban have not commented on the operation.
