At least four members of the Afghan National Police were killed in a Taliban attack in the city of Gardez, the center of Paktia province in eastern Afghanistan.
The attack happened as the forces on Monday evening were breaking their fast, according to presidential spokesman Dawa Khan Minapal, who shared the news on his Twitter account.
This comes amid an increase in Taliban attacks across the country; however, this incident is notable because it it is the first time an attack has occurred in major city following the US-Taliban deal signed late in February.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
