At least nine civilians were killed and five others were wounded in a roadside mine blast in southern Kandahar province on Wednesday, Kandahar police said.

The incident happened at 10:45 am local time after a civilian vehicle struck a roadside mine in Arghistan district, according to police.

The wounded have been taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
