Afghanistan Beats Zimbabe By 54 Runs

Rival team Zimbabwe suffered an embarrassing collapse as they lost their last seven wickets for just 45 runs to hurtle to a 54-run loss in the second One-Day International against Afghanistan in Harare on Sunday.

For the visitors, Amir Hamza, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan shared all the spoils to bundle out Zimbabwe for 184.

Meanwhile, In pursuit of a target of 240, Zimbabwe were reasonably well-placed at 139 for 3 in the 32nd over. However, Naib nipped out Craig Ervine for 34, which in turn triggered the collapse. Ryan Burl (27) who had stitched an alliance of 55 with Ervine for the fourth wicket, was the next one to be dismissed. He attempted to pull the arm-ball from Nabi, but couldn't make the connection and was castled.

Earlier, Mohammad Shahzad (64) and Rahmat Shah (53) accumulated well-measured fifties to anchor Afghanistan's innings. Afghanistan, who won the toss and opted to bat, made a cautious start with the duo of Ali Zadran and Shahzad sharing a stand of 34 off 60 balls for the opening wicket. Ngarava, who put up impressive performances in the Under-19 World Cup held in Bangladesh last year, made the initial incision by dismissing Zadran.

Brief scores: Afghanistan 238/9 in 50 overs (Mohammad Shahzad 64, Rahmat Shah 53, Najibullah Zadran 45; Tendai Chatara 3-36) beat Zimbabwe 184 in 42.1 overs (Solomon Mire 54, Craig Ervine 34; Rashid Khan 3-25) by 54 runs.
