Islamic Emirate Highlights Support for Media Freedom, Govt Transparency

Abdul Wasi Akhund, the head of the General Office of the Prime Minister, said today (Wednesday) on the first day of presenting the annual achievements of government institutions, that the Islamic Emirate supports freedom of expression within the framework of Islamic values.

Abdul Wasi Akhund also said that media activities lead to transparency and good governance, and the Islamic Emirate is striving to use available resources to provide journalists with access to accurate information.

He said: "Media act as a bridge between the government and the people. The voice of the people reaches the government through the media, and the words of the officials reach the people, creating a space for cooperation and trust."

Wasi noted in part of his speech that for the country's progress, the government, the people, and the media have a shared responsibility.

Abdul Wasi Akhund added: "Using available resources, we strive to ensure that journalists have access to true information. In this regard, we have always tried to facilitate and strengthen this work through the Government Information and Media Center by launching some programs."

Meanwhile, the director of the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) has asked government agencies to share accurate information about their annual achievements with the media in the process of explaining the one-year achievements of government institutions.

Naeem-ul-Haq Haqqani, the director of the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), said: "Our expectation from the officials of the Islamic Emirate in the first stage is to encourage and inform the public about all the developments and achievements of their institutions through their presence."

According to the officials of the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), the program to explain the annual achievements of government institutions began on July 31, and continues until the end of September 21.
