Attack On MP’s House Was An ‘An Act Of Terror’

Obaidullah Barikzai, an MP from Kandahar, whose son – Hafizullah Barikzai - was killed in the attack on Helmand MP Mir Wali’s house in Khoshal Khan, PD5, in Kabul, on Wednesday night, said the siege was ‘an act of terror’ by those who take orders from a number of circles in Pakistan.

“This was an act by terrorists who are the gifts of Pakistan,” Barikzai said.

Meanwhile, Mir Wali’s family called the killing of their two young children, Mustafa and Ahmad Zia, a big crime.

Mustafa and Ahmad Zia were the two young grandsons of the MP who lost their lives in the attack.

“The bodies of Mustafa and Ahmad Zia were lying on the ground when I arrived here [at the house]. I called for the Special Forces’ help to remove the bodies,” said Mohammad Anwar, one of Mir Wali’s relatives.

Hafizullah Barikzai, who recently got engaged, had a master’s degree in journalism from India.

His brother, Mohammad Ismail Barikzai, said Hafizullah was hit by at least eight bullets during the shooting.

“Government should ensure the safety of the people. It should pay attention to this matter for the entire nation,” he said.

Two guests and two security guards of the MP were also killed and six of Mir Wali’s family members were wounded in the attack.

Three attackers stormed the house shortly before 7pm on Wednesday night. A shootout ensued and at least one of the attackers detonated explosives.

The siege lasted 13 hours until security forces brought the situation under control.
