Bride Killed In Fatal Shooting Incident

Kabul police on Monday said a bride was killed on Saturday night when armed men accompanying the bride and groom’s convoy fired into the air in celebration which sparked a response from nearby guards who fired on them.

The incident took place when the bridal party’s guards started shooting in the air close to the home of the CEO’s second deputy, Mohammad Mohaqiq in PD3, Sari-Karez, at about midnight. Mohaqiq’s guards then responded and fired on the bridal party.

According to Kabul police department the bride was killed in the incident and four others were wounded. The bride and groom had been on their way home after their wedding party.

Residents in the area said they do not feel secure and are afraid of such security incidents. 

"Firing started in the alley and one person was killed and a few others wounded. It is not known who has killed the bride," said Haji Muhib Hussain, a shopkeeper in the area.

"When we leave our house, we do not feel secure," said Timor Shah, another resident in the area.

Police officials said four men have been arrested in connection with the incident, of which two were from the wedding party and the other two are Mohaqiq’s guards.

Police also stated that investigations are underway in order to find out who killed the bride.
