A heavy explosion jolted the city of Kabul on Monday evening and was big enough to be heard in different parts of the city.
The Interior Ministry’s spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said it was a car bombing that happened at around 9:45 pm Kabul time.
He said the explosion happened in Kabul’s police district 9 (PD9) near Green Village, a residential area for foreign nationals, offices and NGOs.
The area was targeted by a truck bomb back in January which left four people dead and 90 others wounded.
Taliban claimed responsibility for Kabul explosion, saying foreign forces were targeted in the attack.
The Interior Ministry's spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said the explosion happened near residential areas and has affected many houses. He said the Green Village compound is far from the explosion scene.
