At least one child was killed and seven other civilians were wounded in an IED explosion early Wednesday morning in Jalalabad city, in Nangarhar province, local officials said.
The explosion happened at about 5am local time in PD 2 after being placed close to a shop in a busy market, Attullah Khogyani, the provincial governor’s spokesman said.
Akramullah, the shop owner, was among the seven wounded. Four other children were also wounded in the incident.
The wounded were immediately taken to the city hospital and are all in a stable condition, Khogyani said.
So far no group, including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident.
