At least 20 Daesh militants, including their local commander Mohammad Yusuf, were killed in an Afghan National Army (ANA) air strike in Jawzjan province in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Sunday in a statement.
According to the MoD’s statement the operation was conducted in Darzab district. Seventeen others were wounded during the clearing operations.
In addition, the ministry said at least 14 insurgents were also killed during ANA operations in Herat and Kapisa province in the past 24 hours.
The ministry said that eight insurgents, including one Taliban commander, were killed and eight others were wounded in Chist-e-Sharif district of Herat province while six insurgents were killed and six wounded in ANA airstrikes in Najrab district of Kapisa province.
No reports of military or civilian casualties were reported.
The Taliban has not yet commented about the operations.
