Dozens Killed In Daesh and Taliban Clash in Nangarhar

At least 21 Taliban and seven Daesh insurgents were killed in ongoing clashes between the two groups in eastern Nangarhar province in the past two days, local officials claimed on Tuesday.

In addition, nine other insurgents, from both sides, were injured.

The clashes started on Sunday at about 1am local time after Daesh insurgents attacked Taliban, a spokesman for the provincial governor, Attaullah Khoghyani said.

“A nine-year-old girl was also killed during the clashes between the two sides and five other civilians were injured,” Khoghyani said.

However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the incident. 

Nangarhar is where Daesh insurgents are active - particularly in Achin, Kot, Nazyan and Charparhar districts of the province.

Local officials claim Daesh launched an attack on the Taliban at about 1am on Sunday leaving a total of at least 28 dead and nine wounded.
