Eight People Killed in Farah Roadside IED Blast

At least eight civilians were killed in a roadside mine explosion in western Farah province on Tuesday morning, Farah’s provincial governor office confirmed in a statement. 

In addition, 40 other people were wounded.

The incident took place at about 4am local time after a passenger bus traveling from Herat to Kabul hit a roadside mine, according to the statement. 

“The incident happened in Lakhshak area in Bala Blook district of Farah,” the statement added. 

“One woman is among the dead and women and children are among the wounded.”

The wounded have been taken to nearby hospitals, according to officials.

 However, no group including the Taliban have yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
