Eight Policemen Killed In Taliban Attack In Daikundi

At least eight police force members were killed and 10 others wounded in an attack on their check post in the central province of Daikundi on Thursday night, the provincial governor Anwar Rahmati said.

He said that the attack started at 1:30 am local time on a check post in Tapa-e-Ziarat in Pato district of the province.

He said that two check posts were fallen to the Taliban in this attack.

Rahmati said the Afghan forces have retaken the check posts but clashes are still ongoing in part of the district.

The governor said that the Taliban attacked another check post of the security forces in the province this week which left one security force member dead.

He said that the Taliban has also suffered “heavy casualties” in the attack.

Daikundi is a secure province in the center of Afghanistan but sometimes it faces clashes between security forces and militants as it shares borders with some insecure provinces, including Ghazni, Uruzgan and Helmand.
