At least five policemen were killed and three other police were wounded in a Taliban attack in Uruzgan province on Sunday night, local officials said.

The Taliban attacked a police checkpoint in Trinkot, said Zalgai Ebadi, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
