At least five Border Police Force members were killed in an explosion in Nangarhar province on Thursday.

The explosion happened at about 11.30am when a border police vehicle hit a roadside mine in Mohmand village in Achin district, the provincial governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said. 

This comes after Nangarhar has witnessed many insurgent attacks in recent months. However, officials said the security of the province has been handed over to the Afghan army.
