At least four Taliban insurgents were killed in clashes with security forces in eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, local officials confirmed.
In addition, several other insurgents were wounded.
The incident happened after a group of Taliban insurgents clashed with security forces in Ghanikhil district of the province. The insurgents had tried to carry out an attack on the Torkham- Jalalabad highway, military officials confirmed.
“The clashes started after the Taliban were faced with a military patrol; and three insurgents were arrested by the forces during the fighting. They had been wearing women’s clothes,” officials said, adding that “the clashes lasted for a few hours.”
The security forces also seized some weapons during the operation, officials added.
However, officials did not provide further details about the clashes.
The Taliban has not yet commented about the clash.
