Mirwais, the chief prosecutor for Narkh district of Wardak province was killed by unknown gunmen on Monday, local officials said.
 
Wardak police confirmed the incident and said the shooting took place on Monday afternoon when Mirwais was on his way to the provincial capital Maidan Shar.
 
Unknown gunmen opened fire on him while he was driving, said police.  
 
Police said they have started investigations into the incident.  
 
No group including the Taliban has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
