Badghis Hotel Siege Ends, Eight Killed

A group of “suicide bombers” entered a hotel in Qala-e-Naw, the center of the western province of Badghis, at around 12:40pm Kabul time and are fighting against security forces, the Interior Ministry’s spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said.

Rahimi said that police forces have cordoned off the area and are fighting the attackers.

2:40pm

The Interior Ministry's spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said two attackers were killed and fighting continues between security forces and gunmen at the hotel in Qala-e-Naw.

Rahimi said there were totally three attackers.

4:30pm 

Taliban claimed responsibility of the attack and said their attackers are fighting the security forces.

Taliban has claimed that they have attacked the police headquarters in the province. 

4:45pm

Interior Ministry's spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said that eight security force members were killed and seven others were wounded in the attack. 

He said the number may rise. 

Rahimi added that a number of civilians have also been affected in the attack.

6:17pm: 

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Nusrat Rahimi, said the hotel siege ended after almost five hours. 

He said three attackers were killed by security forces and two others were arrested.

Hospital officials said two civilians, who stayed at the hotel, were also killed in the attack.
