Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, head of Hizb-e-Islami, on Friday met with a large number of his supporters in Mehtarlam city, the capital city of Laghman province.

Reports indicate that Hekmatyar will come to Kabul on Saturday and that President Ashraf Ghani will officially welcome him during an event to mark the anniversary of 8th Saur, the Victory Day of Mujahideen.

Reports also indicate that Hekmatyar will then join the president for lunch at the presidential palace. 

Today (Friday) is the 8th of Saur, but Saturday has been announced a national holiday. Some reports indicate that the ceremony to mark the day was postponed so that Hekmatyar could attend the event.
