IED Kills District Police Chief in Paktika

Darya Khan Talash, district police chief for Surobi district in Paktika province, was killed in a roadside mine blast Sunday morning, local officials said. Three of his guards were also killed in the blast, officials said.

According to the officials, the incident happened in early morning when his vehicle hit a roadside mine.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

In Zabul, Sahib Jan, district police chief in the Nawbahar district, was also killed in a roadside mine blast on Saturday, local officials said.

The incident happened in Shahr-e-Safa district of the province after Sahib Jan’s vehicle struck a roadside mine, said Samad Durani, district governor, adding that “four other policemen were wounded in the blast.”

No one claimed responsibility for the blast.
