A family in which three children and a parent were killed by an unidentified man in Kabul on Sunday evening said they are seeking justice, despite having no confidence in the courts or law enforcement. 

The three children were aged between 7 and 14 years old, and all four victims were killed by an ax.
All were laid to rest in Kabul on Monday.

Their relatives said the family had no enmity with anyone and that the motive behind the killing is so far not known.

The father and a three-year-old child of the family have been left but the father could not speak on camera as he was overwhelmed by grief, according to his relatives.

“Anyone who will forgive these murderers will be part of this crime,” said Mohammad Qasim, the victims’ relative.

Hilal, Jalal and Diana were the three children who were murdered on Sunday along with their mother.

“A proper government should be established instead of the current government,” said Milad, a relative of the victims.

“How long should we tolerate this? How long should we live here (the country)?” asked Mohammad Nadim, a relative of the victims.

Some relatives of the victims said they have lost their trust in the government and in police as they have failed to ensure people’s safety.

“No citizen has expectations from this corrupt government. We are sure that the murderers will be freed after few days if they are arrested,” said Saifurrahman Habibi, a relative of the victims.

The Interior Ministry has not commented on this incident. But Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, who addressed the Council of Ministers meeting on Monday, called the murder of the four members of the family a crime and insisted on a probe.

“We need (investigators') attention to arrest the perpetrators of this case and invest in this case, which is a very big and clear crime,” Abdullah said.
