The youngest son of the Second Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq was laid to rest in the Kart-e-Sakhi area in the west of Kabul, near the family's residence, after he was killed by his elder brother on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Mohaqiq said his son, Baqir Mohaqiq, was 26 years old and that his brother, Hussein, was “mentally ill” and that they used to chain him up, but, the night before the incident, Mohamad Baqir Mohaqiq prevented others from chaining Hussein up.

“I am old now and I hoped that he would grow and would help the people… but he left us,” Mohaqiq said.

Baqir Mohaqiq had a master’s degree in political science and was director of Rah-e-Farda TV network in Kabul.

He has left two children, a boy and a girl.

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, Second Vice President Sarwar Danish, the head of the High Peace Council Mohammad Karim Khalili and other politicians attended the funeral.

“I knew his son Baqir and I was aware about his bravery and kindness and I send condolences to Mr. Mohaqiq over his son’s death,” Abdullah said.

“The death of your loved son will never affect your strong will,” Danish said.
