One Killed in Clash with Pakistani Forces

One member of the Afghan Border Force was killed and three others were wounded in a clash with Pakistani forces along the Durand Line in Mohmand Dara district in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Thursday evening, the Nangarhar governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said.

Khogyani said that three civilians were also wounded in the clash that continued for one hour.

According to him, the clashes started after the Pakistani forces violated the international border.

Clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces are not new. Back in May, at least four Afghan border force members were killed in clash with Pakistani forces in Spin Boldak district in the southern province of Kandahar. The clash left 23 civilians wounded.

According to the Afghan Defense Ministry, on July 31 at least nine civilians were killed and 50 others were wounded in Pakistani forces artillery attacks on “residential areas” in Spin Boldak district.

The clash came hours after a telephonic conversation between Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who stressed his country’s support to the Afghan peace process, according to a statement by Foreign Affairs Ministry.
