One school student has been killed and nine other students and school staff wounded in an ongoing rocket attack against Kunduz city, officials confirmed.
A rocket hit the Shir Khan High School in Kunduz city earlier in the day. All the victims had been at the school at the time of the incident.
The attack started early Thursday morning and has been ongoing throughout the day, a source said. By 1pm local time at least nine rockets had hit the city.
Among those wounded are women and children, officials confirmed.
Security forces are currently conducting search operations to find the insurgents behind the attack.
The rockets are believed to have been fired from the Chahardara district and Band-e-Khanabad area.
In addition, the Taliban attacked Kunduz-Takhar highway check posts at about 10am local time on Thursday. The road is closed to traffic as clashes are still ongoing.
There are no reports of casualties in this incident.
