At least 105 civilians including five women were freed from a Taliban prison in southern Helmand province on Wednesday night during a special operation conducted by the army, the military corps for special operations said in a statement on Thursday.
The 7th Battalion of the commandos conducted a special operation in Sor Kariz and De Babay villages of Kajaki district of the province on Wednesday night in which 105 civilians including five women were freed, according to the statement.
“Four insurgents were killed, one arrested and the security forces also seized 10 motorbikes during the operation,” it said.
However, the statement did not provide further details.
The Taliban have not yet commented over the operation.
