Pakistan ‘Supports Sustainable Peace’ in Afghanistan: Alvi

Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi at a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday said his country supports sustainable peace in Afghanistan and wants to maintain good relations with its neighbor.

The ceremony was for the distribution of ration packs among Afghan refugees, according to APP.

Pakistan welcomes the recent peace efforts in Afghanistan, he said, adding that his country will continue to extend aid to Afghan refugees amid the coronavirus, as well as to the general public.

This comes as Afghan leaders President Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah signed a political agreement this week, authorizing Abdullah to lead the peace efforts.

The agreement was widely welcomed nationally and internationally.
