Peace Activists Kidnapped in Logar Now Released

Six members of the People’s Peace Movement, who were abducted earlier this morning in Logar province, have been released, say PPM spokespeople.

The kidnapped members were traveling to a peace gathering in the Sharak area of Pul-e-Alam, Logar’s capital, according to Bismillah Watandost, a spokesman for the People’s Peace Movement.

Earlier, Watandost reported that the Taliban was responsible, and they had taken the abductees to an ‘unknown place in Logar province.’

The People’s Peace Movement started in 2018 and gained international attention when members began a march from Helmand to Kabul pledging to personally deliver a demand for peace to both the Afghan government and the Taliban. The movement has undertaken more marches since, and its members have been abducted before.
