Man Stabs, Kills Pregnant Wife in Faryab

A man stabbed and killed his pregnant wife in the northern province of Faryab, the victim's family said.

The man and woman were married for a period of around nine months.  

The father of the slain woman said that the husband had mistreated and tortured his daughter on many occasions.  

“We call on the Islamic Emirate and security officials to arrest the killer as soon as possible,” said Abdul Qudos, father of the victim. 

Local officials said that an investigation is underway. 

“An individual, who is named Sahib Nazar, killed his wife in an act of domestic violence, Islamic Emirate forces are searching for him. God willing, we will arrest him as soon as possible,” said Shamsullah Mohammade, head of the information and culture department of the province.    

Tribal elders called on the Islamic Emirate to take serious actions against people who are committing serious crimes. 

Based on available numbers, family violence has recently increased due to economic challenges, poverty and early marriages in the northern province of Badghis.
