Clerics in Samangan Call on Islamic Emirate to Reopen Girls' Schools

Some religious clerics in the province of Samangan asked the leadership of the Islamic Emirate to reopen girls' schools above the sixth grade across the country.

Religious clerics said that in addition to learning religious sciences, learning modern sciences is also important for women.

“Girls are studying at university, so let girls study in schools,” said Mohammad Nayeem, religious cleric.

“We have a lot of tension over schools, may Allah open the schools,” said Haji Noorullhaq, a Samangan resident.

In the Aybak center of Samangan, one class was made for girls above grade six, and a student of this class asked for reopening of schools.

"We ask the Islamic Emirate to reopen our schools for all girls above grade six,” Haseena Karimi, a student.

“Education is obligatory for men and women and we ask the current government to reopen our schools,” said Aziza Hanafi, a student.

Officials of the education department in Samangan said that they are waiting for the order of the Islamic Emirate to reopen schools for girls above grade six.

“If the leadership of the Islamic Emirate orders us, we are prepared to reopen schools,” said Nasrat Ullah Faizani, head of the Education Department in Samangan.

Meanwhile officials of the Education Department in other provinces said that they are ready to reopen schools for girls above grate six if the Islamic Emirate orders them.
