The chamber of industries and mines of Badakhshan province has launched a gemstones and handicrafts exhibition in the province.

Officials at the chamber said the exhibition is held to seek markets for a variety of handicrafts and gemstones of Badakhshan province.

“The purpose of the exhibition is to bring a close coordination between the private sector, traders and the government and to establish a center for selling gemstones in the province,” said Hedayatullah Hakimi, head of the chamber of industries and mines of Badakhshan.

Meanwhile, participants called the exhibition a vital step in the extension of the business sector across the province.

“Whatever we put in the exhibition is made from precious and semi-precious stones of Badakhshan province, like vases, maps and bowls.” said Anosh, a businessman.

“At least three kinds of garments have been put into the fair,” said Hujatullah Mujadidi, a businessman.
