A number of students in the journalism Faculty of Shaikh Zayed University in Khost criticized the lack of practical training. 

Also, according to the students, many of those who graduate cannot find a job in the field, and they are forced to work in another profession.

Hasibullah Ilham, a journalism student, said that he graduated from this faculty four years ago but due to the lack of work in his field of study, he had to turn to shopkeeping.

He asked that officials in addition to theoretical training focus on practical training.

“Practical training is necessary for all departments and our department depends on this training,” said Hasibullah Ilham.

“At Shaikh Zayed University, when students graduate from the journalist faculty they cannot find a job in their field,” said Majeed Zaland, a student.

“In journalism, in addition to theoretical training, practical training is also very important, but we do not have the possibility of practical training in addition to theoretical training,” said Elias Zerak, a student.

Meanwhile, the head of this university acknowledged these problems and said they will address these challenges.

“We have talked with some media in the field of action, to encourage them to use some students in the media and share their experiences with them,” said Ahmad Zia Elham, head of the Shaikh Zayed University of Khost.

The journalist faculty of this university have a radio for practical training but due to lack of electricity its broadcasts have been stopped.
