Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman: Current Policies Harm Pakistan's Economy

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, the leader of Pakistan's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, said that blocking trade routes with Afghanistan will weaken Pakistan's economy.

At a press conference in Islamabad, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman also criticized the policies of the current rulers of that country.

The leader of Pakistan's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party said: "Pakistan can connect to Central Asia through Afghanistan, but blocking the routes and creating problems for the people has made this impossible."

According to him, Pakistan’s government is also in conflict with people in other areas, including Chaman.

Earlier, protesters in Chaman formed a tribal jirga and warned that if their demands are not met, there will be severe consequences for Pakistan.

"We are unbiased people, we have shared our demands with this government, and we ask them to address our demands soon," said Maulana Muhammad Yousuf, a member of the Chaman protest movement.

"If the Chaman road is opened for us, we will fight to reach it quickly, and then everyone will see what happens," said Ghawsullah, a leader of the Chaman protest movement.

"Half of our existence is in Afghanistan; we are inseparable, and no one can separate us. We will not stop fighting for our rights," said Muhammad Sadiq Achakzai, spokesperson for the Chaman protest movement.

According to these protesters, they have been protesting for seven months against the decision to require visas and passports at the Spin Boldak crossing, but their demands have not yet been accepted by the Pakistani government.

The leader of Pakistan's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party made these remarks as thousands of Chaman residents have lost their businesses and are now facing poor economic conditions following the decision to require visas and passports at the Spin Boldak crossing.
