Farah security officials said they have prevented the smuggling of 10,000 kilograms of drugs in the past three months and arrested 100 people in connection with these incidents.
According to authorities, during this period, 480 acres of land were cleared of poppies.
Mohammad Nasim Badri, the spokesman for Farah security command, said: "The Farah security command has prevented the smuggling of hundreds of kilograms of drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin, and opium, to Iran over the past three months and arrested 100 people in connection with these incidents."
The spokesman added that in the past three months, nearly 250 other individuals have been arrested on charges of theft, kidnapping, alcohol consumption, and various other crimes.
Nasim Badri said: "Additionally, in the past three months, 250 people have also been arrested for various crimes such as theft, kidnapping, and alcohol consumption. Over the past three years, at least 3,000 drug addicts have been treated, and currently, 500 addicts are in Farah hospital."
Meanwhile, Farah residents and some civil activists are demanding serious and legal action from authorities against these individuals.
"We urge the interim government to take serious and legal action against the detained individuals; otherwise, other young people will also turn to addiction," said Abdul Baqi Hemat, a civil activist.
"Security in Farah has improved compared to the past. We ask the Farah authorities to make more efforts in arresting criminals and preventing crimes," said Nematullah, a resident of Farah.
"Despite the Farah Police Command's efforts to reduce crime levels, they should also pay more attention to the districts and the center," said Mohammad, another resident of Farah.
According to Farah security officials, nearly 3,000 addicts have been treated in the past three years, and currently, another 500 addicts are under treatment at the addiction treatment center.
