The Department of Education in Balkh has announced the inauguration of five schools and four religious schools in the center and districts of this province.
The head of the Balkh Education Department, Abdul Jalil Shaheedkhil, said that the construction of these schools and religious schools cost 150 million afghani, which was funded by donor organizations, traders, and the government.
Abdul Jalil Shaheedkhil, said: "Every year we build or renovate dozens of school and religious school buildings. Some of them are funded by the Ministry of Education's budget, some by institutions, and others by benefactors."
Some teachers and students consider the lack of professional teachers and the shortage of educational materials as serious challenges to their education.
Hadisullah, a student, said: "It is good that this building has been constructed. Attention should also be given to the teachers, and good teachers should be welcomed."
Ehsanullah Raufi, a teacher, said: "Previously, we did not have a building; our students were studying in tents."
However, the acting Minister of Education, while recognizing the importance of learning modern and religious sciences, said that after reviewing the situation of education in Balkh, the demands of students and teachers will also be addressed.
Habibullah Agha, the acting Minister of Education, said: "We must strive in the field of modern sciences. Once we are assured that our children are proficient in the essential knowledge that is obligatory for men and women, we should guide them towards modern sciences."
