The Badakhshan Directorate of Environmental Protection has announced a complete ban on hunting wild animals, birds, and rare species in the province.
Officials of the directorate emphasize that individuals involved in hunting these animals will be dealt with according to the law.
Due to the presence of rare animals such as the Marco Polo sheep and snow leopard, Badakhshan has always attracted both domestic and international tourists.
"Hunting wildlife and birds is entirely prohibited. This decision has been made based on the directive of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, and no one is allowed to hunt,” stated Faiz Ur Rahman Ebrahimi, the head of Badakhshan's Environmental Protection Department.
Some residents of Badakhshan have supported this decision and pledged their cooperation.
"The hunting ban will help preserve rare animals and attract more tourists to Badakhshan,” stated Sayed Mohebullah Sadat, a resident of Badakhshan.
"We welcome this action by the Islamic Emirate and call for strict measures against illegal hunters,” stated Rasoul Mirzayi, another resident of the province.
Recently, residents of a village in the Shaki district of Badakhshan hunted a brown bear and took photos with its carcass. This act sparked reactions, leading to the arrest of two individuals in connection with the incident.
