A number of educated youth in Wakhan District, Badakhshan Province, have expressed concerns about the lack of employment opportunities.
These youths, who have completed their undergraduate and postgraduate studies, say that despite having the necessary skills and knowledge, job opportunities are not available to them.
"Many of our young people are unemployed and have no income or resources. We urge the Islamic Emirate to recruit our youth into the ranks of the security forces," said Ramadan, a resident of Wakhan.
"Our request to the Islamic Emirate is to support unemployed youth and create job opportunities for them," said Samiullah, another resident of Badakhshan.
Wakhan, a border district in Badakhshan with a population of over 18,000, is located 200 kilometers from Faizabad, the provincial capital.
Local officials in Badakhshan said that since the rise of the Islamic Emirate, a significant number of young people have been recruited into the security forces and government departments, and efforts to create new job opportunities are ongoing.
Hekmatullah Mohammadi, head of information at the department of Information and Culture in Badakhshan, said: "Although three years have passed since the Islamic Emirate took power, many young people have been recruited into the security forces and civilian administration. We are working to provide more employment opportunities for other young people who are part of the workforce in the future."
Unemployment remains one of the major challenges facing the citizens of Afghanistan, especially educated youth. These young people have consistently urged the caretaker government to take serious steps to address this issue.
