Several drivers and passengers who travel on the Kabul-Parwan highway are calling for the completion of the construction of the second lane of this route.
According to them, the narrow width of the road has caused serious problems for freight and passenger vehicles in commuting.
The construction of the second lane of this highway, from the Bagram intersection to the Jabal Siraj district, covering a length of 25 kilometers and at a cost of 1.537 billion Afs, was initiated during the previous government and progressed 75%. However, with political changes and the transformation of the regime, the construction process was halted.
Taj Mohammad, a driver, said: "We request the Islamic Emirate rebuild the roads because this route is one of the key highways. We also request serious action in this regard."
Mohammad Sharif, a resident of Panjshir, stated: "Every time I travel on this route, the most exhausting part is between Jabal Siraj and after the Tutumdara area."
Mohammad Omar, a resident of Parwan, said: "We urge the Islamic Emirate to complete this road."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works has stated that the completion of the second lane of this highway is included in the ministry's plans for next year.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, said: "The construction work of this highway from the Bagram intersection to Jabal Siraj had previously started, with about 23 to 25 percent remaining, and its completion is planned for next year."
The Kabul-Parwan highway, in addition to connecting the provinces of Parwan, Panjshir, and Kapisa to the capital, also links the northern and northeastern provinces of the country to Kabul, through which commercial goods are transported to Central Asian countries.
