Samangan Industrialists Face Power and Space Challenges

Several industrialists in Samangan province have complained about the lack of electricity and the absence of suitable locations for investment.

They say that despite efforts made after the Islamic Emirate’s return to power to boost investment, some of their fundamental issues remain unresolved.

"If there is no electricity, all workers will be unemployed, and work will come to a halt. The production of furniture and upholstery is entirely dependent on electricity," stated Nuralhaq, an industrialist in Samangan.

"We have problems with electricity and workspace. The current space for our activities is small, and finding a suitable location is difficult. Even if a place is available, its price is too high. In this current courtyard, we pay 100,000 afghani in rent annually,” stated Mohammad Azim, another industrialist in Samangan.

Meanwhile, some workers from production companies have urged investors to increase investment within the country to create more job opportunities and prevent young people from migrating.

"We are happy that we do not have to leave the country. We have work in our homeland, and we are engaged in productive activities," said Obaidullah, one of the workers.

"If proper employment opportunities are available in Afghanistan, there will be no need to go abroad. Investment in the country can boost businesses and provide more jobs for us and other workers," said Mohammad Arif, another worker in the province.

However, the Samangan Department of Industry and Commerce stated that the establishment of an industrial park in the province will help resolve the issues faced by industrialists and investors.

"By the order of Amir al-Mu’minin, 1,000 acres of land have been allocated for an industrial park, and it will be built soon to organize industrial activities," stated Enayatullah Yasini, Director of Business Affairs at the Samangan Department of Industry and Commerce.

According to the Samangan Department of Industry and Commerce, there are currently 80 large and small factories operating in the province, and opportunities for further investment have also been made available.
