Residents of Sancharak district in Sar-e-Pol province complain about the lack of electricity and clean drinking water, saying that no attention has been given to reconstruction and development projects in the district over the past two decades.
Sancharak is one of the most remote districts of Sar-e-Pol and is recognized as a small town within the province.
"Currently, people bring water on donkeys from a distance of four kilometers. Some have dug wells and use them, but they face many problems. There is no running water source in the district center,” said Janatullah, the deputy district governor of Sancharak.
"We have a beautiful town, but we don’t have electricity. Everyone is forced to rely on solar power. Our roads are in poor condition, and these problems must be resolved as soon as possible,” said Mohammad Anwar, a resident of Sancharak.
Javid Hassanzada, another resident of Sancharak, emphasized: "Our request to the authorities is to install pipelines from Khoshdara water as soon as possible so that people's problems can be solved."
Local officials in Sar-e-Pol say that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate has promised to implement an electricity development project in Sancharak in exchange for granting access to one of the province’s mines.
"During the governor's recent trip to Kandahar and his meeting with the Amir al-Mu’minin, this issue was discussed. The leadership of the Islamic Emirate has promised to launch an electricity development project in Sancharak in return for one of the province’s mines, “said Habibullah Masroor, the spokesperson for the Sar-e-Pol governor.
"We had a three-day seminar in Kabul aimed at exploring ways to provide clean drinking water and improve services for the people," said Juma Haqyar, the head of rural rehabilitation and development in Sar-e-Pol.
