The head of Paktia’s education department has announced new initiatives to complete the construction of 32 school buildings in the province.
According to officials, the Ministry of Education has prioritized these projects in its 1404 solar year (2025) plans, aiming to complete them next year.
"From the previous government, 32 incomplete school construction projects remain in different districts. Some of these projects are new, while others are up to 30% completed. However, the Ministry of Education has prioritized these projects for 1404, and they are expected to be completed next year,” said Abdul Qayum Farooqi, the head of Paktia’s education department.
Several students say that the lack of school buildings has caused serious challenges in their education.
"Construction of this building started some time ago but was halted again. This is a central high school, and we have urgent need for this building,” said Naqibullah, a student.
"Due to cold weather and rain, students cannot attend school regularly and end up missing classes, which disrupts their education. We hope these incomplete projects will be finished so a safe environment is provided for students,” sad Sahil, another student.
"Dozens of school construction projects in Paktia remain unfinished, forcing students to study outdoors, which creates many challenges during rainy and hot seasons,” stated Mohammad Wali Saeed, another student.
According to Paktia’s education department, out of 371 schools in the province, 183 lack proper buildings. However, recently, construction work on 18 schools has begun in collaboration with a supporting organization, and these are expected to be completed soon.
