The Director of Public Health in Helmand province has announced that six new health centers have recently been inaugurated in the Sangin and Kajaki districts of the province.
These health centers, built at a cost of 36 million afghani by the Afghan Health Services Authority, will provide medical services not only for children and mothers but also specifically for children suffering from malnutrition.
Fazal Ahmad Shafiullah, the Director of Public Health in Helmand, stated: "The cost of these six centers amounts to 36 million afghani. Out of a total of 30 planned centers, 15 are now ready for inauguration, 10 are currently under renovation, and discussions with partner organizations are ongoing for the remaining five."
Meanwhile, residents of Sangin and Kajaki districts have welcomed the opening of these centers as a significant step toward resolving healthcare challenges in their areas.
They have also called for additional healthcare services in their regions.
Khwas Aka, a resident of Sangin district, told TOLOnews: "Our request is to send us qualified doctors. We need both male and female doctors here. Also, please provide us with medicine and an ambulance for our center."
Abdul Razaq, a resident of Kajaki district, said: "We used to face many difficulties, especially when women became ill. People here cannot afford treatment, and often no vehicle was available to transport patients. Now that this center has been established near our home, we are very grateful."
