At least seven insurgents were killed in clashes with security forces in northern Faryab province on Wednesday night, local police officials said on Thursday.
In addition, eight insurgents were wounded.
The clash started in Qaisar district of the province after a group of insurgents attacked security check posts in the district, according to officials.
“The clashes continued for several hours and a civilian was also killed in the fighting,” officials said.
However, officials did not provide more details about the clash.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
